Beat-the-Heat Ride - 07/22/17 - SoCo to Potosi

Didn't get to post this earlier like I was hoping...

Interesting ride today... I'll openly apologize to Joe & gam3ov3r for not riding my own ride and almost bringing the ride to a halt pretty damn fast. Had big "moment" which shouldn't have happened and I feel like a dick for almost putting you both in that position to pick up the pieces, literally. Now that the drama is out of the way...

We couldn't do the route due to one of the roads being unexpectedly and inexplicably closed. Ended up taking the "short" route I ran last weekend to Potosi. It worked out and we wound up taking some of the roads on my "long" route over to Ste. Gen and caught the ferry to the IL side. Joe got us to the caves where it was a nice, strong cool breeze pumping out. Could've sat there for quite awhile. Other than that, had fun day, only had one deer run across the road - good sized buck - and I managed to take out a snake along the line too.

Maybe some other time I'll try the original route.

No need to apologize been there done that. Just glad everything turned out like it did. And it did because of two reasons one your good riding ability during the second half of the "moment" and two the other driver played heads up and was able to  get slowed down.  It is good that we come away from these days with lessons learned.  Cycle sailor has mentored me through a lot of these situations.  So tomorrow is another day and we  ride again.
