squash 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2009 Have a friend who needs a complete motor rebuild on a 5.7L GM and is looking to lean it more towards he performance side.. Anyone have a recommendation on a local shop thats honest and reliable and stands behind their work? Not looking for someone working out of their shed, but not looking to spend a million bucks either.

sportbike711 209 Report post Posted April 4, 2009 Consider some crate motors. It is hard to build some with the crate motor prices that are out there. Is it a newer 5.7 Fuel Injected or you say 5.7 for the older version 350 CID Carburated. Heres one for you 420HP Visit My Website

squash 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2009 it's a fuel injected motor, a 1995 LT1 actually. We looked at a few crate motors, trying to compare them to a solid rebuild. Thanks for the tips so far guys!
Cowasaki9r 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2009 LT1 is the last of the small blocks but it does have a lot of it's own features so be specific when you are looking for parts. They make good power already , but a simple cam and rocker upgrade is all the is really needed. I used to do a lot of porting on heads/ intake for those motors , you can also stroke them for more cubes , aftermarket heads/intake are very pricey and not needed unless your doing something like the 388 twin turbo we worked on last winter .
